About EBSS
EBSS is a veteran-founded defense technology company focused on engineered blast-overpressure mitigation for military training environments.
EBSS — Explosive Blast Shield Systems — was founded to address a problem its founder saw firsthand across decades of military service: repeated blast-overpressure exposure during training.
For the warfighter, training must remain realistic. For the instructor, range safety officer, and training cadre, repeated exposure can accumulate over years.
EBSS was built around a simple belief:

Founded from Firsthand Experience
EBSS was founded by Michael Eaves, a retired U.S. Navy SEAL Chief with more than two decades of Special Operations experience.
Throughout his career, Mike experienced weapon systems and explosive events that produced high blast overpressure. Like many service members, he initially viewed that exposure as part of the job.
Later, while serving as a RSO at SQT Land Warfare in Naval Special Warfare’s SEAL Qualification Training pipeline, he saw the problem differently.
Students rotated through the range. The instructor and RSO remained in place. Every round, every class, and every evolution added to the exposure picture.
That experience shaped the purpose behind EBSS: to pursue practical engineering solutions that help reduce unnecessary blast-overpressure exposure before it reaches the people who train, supervise, and support the mission.
Our Mission
EBSS exists to help protect warfighters, instructors, range safety officers, and training personnel from unnecessary blast-overpressure exposure while preserving the realism required for military readiness.
The goal is not to make training easier. The goal is to help preserve the people who make hard training possible.
EBSS focuses on practical engineering controls designed for real military training environments — solutions that can be evaluated, adapted, and fielded without compromising the mission.

Founder of EBSS and inventor of the company’s blast-overpressure mitigation systems. Mike served more than 20 years in Naval Special Warfare, including combat deployments and service as a Range Safety Officer at SQT Land Warfare.
EBSS brings together operational military experience, technical invention, engineering development, contracting knowledge, finance, and business execution.
